The Blue River Valley Girls Tennis Team made history Saturday with the first ever Girls Tennis Sectional Championship in BRV school history. In a 5-0 sweep of Tri High. The Lady Vikings had to do it the hard way and defeat 3 opponents in 4 days.
The team started out sectional play with a hard fought 3-2 match win over host New Castle on Wednesday Night, followed by another 3-2, 3-hour win over county rival Shenandoah on Thursday evening.
After the Championship match was postponed from Friday evening until Saturday morning, the Vikings came to play and swept the Titans 5-0 without any match going to 3 sets. Winning at #1 Singles was Samantha Abbott, at #2 Singles Mindy Polston, and at #3 Singles was Rachel Snavely. Winning at #1 Doubles were the team of twins Hannah and Haley Foster and at #2 Doubles the team of Madison Cross, and Bri Sayne.
The team enjoyed a police and fire escort back to BRV via a short detour through Mt. Summit and Mooreland.
The team will play Centerville at 4pm Tuesday at Richmond High School.
